Seven Summits Students Get Into The Swing With Redstone Golf Resort

The more youth who learn this game- the better! This motto sums up the philosophy at Redstone Golf Resort. The legendary Les Furber Signature Course, located in Rossland, B.C., offers 18 inspiring holes with smooth tee boxes, winding fairways with ultimate undulations, culminating on challenging greens.  An interesting fact about Redstone Golf Resort is the front nine holes of the course are comprised of a combination of three par 3s, three par 4s, and three par 5s: an usual mix for most courses.

The students from Seven Summits Centre for Learning are fortunate to benefit from Rossland’s amenities during the physical education workshops. Redstone Golf Resort manager Jeff Bruce is an advocate for junior golf and wishes more children would learn the game. To this point, “There is no charge for children 12 and younger with their parents, and our fully stocked pro shop has rental clubs to get them swinging,” says Mr. Bruce. “Everyone starts somewhere in golf. It’s all about having fun and creating inclusion.”

Redstone Golf Resort is home to over fifty juniors, and ten to fifteen of them compete at an amateur level. In the past, Redstone Golf Resort offered junior lessons and aims to bring this service back after the Covid restrictions are lifted.

Many of the students at Seven Summits Centre for Learning have never golfed, so the workshop lessons are scheduled for the beginning of the school year when the temperatures are more moderate. Redstone Golf Resort offers a full driving range and practise greens for putting and chipping. This is where the students will learn and hone their skills to eventually play a full game.

“We just really want the students to have a chance to use all the amazing sport options Rossland has to offer, and Redstone Golf Course has been a long-time supporter of Seven Summits Centre,” says Sue McBride, President for VSS. “We hope to continue creating opportunities and adventures in learning for our cohort for years to come.”
