Free Ski, Alpine Racing and Kitefoiling programs at Red Mountain Academy
Seven Summits' students learn inside and outside the classroom. Our partnership with Red Mountain Academy allows them to achieve academic success and meet their full potential in kitefoiling, alpine skiing as well as freeskiing. Our strength lies in our ability to fully integrate a students' training program with a flexible academic one to ensure that neither is compromised.
Red Mountain Racers know how to win! They have trained World Cup racers, National Champions, and Olympians. Current Grad Hanna Schulze was named the 2018 U16 Western Ski Cross Champion. Representing Denmark, Alumni Cirkeline Bigom competed in the Youth Olympics for Alpine Racing. Freeskiier Nils Uski, representing Sweden, finished the 2019 Season ranked #4 in North America, #1 in Canada.
Snowboarding is big in our learning centre too! Neko Reimer, One of Burton Snowboards' youngest team riders, is one of our current students. Our alumni have also ripped it at Red. Snowboarder Heidi Farmer was the 2017 Freeride Junior World Champion while attending Seven Summits Centre for Learning.
Nordic Racing at Black Jack Ski Club
One of Canada's top cross-country ski development programs is located right here in Rossland. Dave Wood, former Canadian National Team Coach, runs The Black Jack Nordic Ski Team. The club boasts over 40km of professionally groomed trails for classic and skate skiing along with a biathlon range.
Providing year-round training, as well as junior and adult racing, the club achieves outstanding success at National Championships, World Cup events and Olympic competitions. Our unique partnership with BLACK JACK has enabled 11 of our Alumni/Students to balance life and learning with skiing excellence. This year Remi Drolet, Molly Miller and Jasmine Drolet qualified for the FIS World Junior Championships and may very well one day carry the torch for cross country skiing for Canada. Both Remi (attending Harvard University) and Molly (attending North Michigan State University) are racing NCAA. Jasmine is a Canada Winter Games champion who also placed second in the 2019 Rising Stars race at the World Cup in Quebec City. She is set to reach the same dazzling heights in the next stage of her skiing and academic career following graduation.
